Italian, naturally.
Alessandra has been in the UK for 25 years and is fluent in English from her doctorate awarded by the University of Cagliari, Italy.
Following a distinguished career teaching Italian to adults and young people at colleges and universities, Alessandra made the leap to forming her own business, The Italian Experience Cotswold, in 2017.
The popular language school now has participants from all across the United Kingdom. Alessandra is also a chartered linguist, examiner and tutor for a number of prestigious clients including the Government institutions.
Steve started his career in commercial marketing and then has worked in education for 27 years, including as a Deputy Principal in a London College. Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Public Media from Trinity College, Leeds University.
Alessandra and Steve have a unique chemistry and flair that they bring to the company. Their professional and personal relationship continues with a 20 year marriage and a trilingual son, Joshua Matteo!
Our Story
The Italian Experience Cotswold was formed in 2017 from a vision of Italian language learning based on small groups, high quality teaching and an overriding desire to put the participants at the centre of all that we do.
Like many, we are passionate for the beauty of Italy - and its culture - and this features in most lessons. Our students like to know about places and the style of being Italian before they visit - and to discover new parts of Italy.
We set up teaching to be dynamic, interactive and tailored to the needs of our participants. Using courses and workshop formats, the Italian courses expanded again in 2020 with the addition of a Zoom online format that allowed the company to expand beyond Oxfordshire to the rest of the country.
As a team we are very proud of our participants, many of whom now live, holiday and work in Italy- and have made Italy and its people, their shared passion.
We have not compromised our vision as we have grown and expanded. And the company is characterised by innovation and friendliness.
Our values are to be authentic, fun and sophisticated.
